Police search for law office burglar
MIAMI (WSVN) -- Miami Police are searching for a thief who burglarized a South Florida law office and stole pricey computers ... and bags of potato chips.
"Come on, who takes Doritos and potato chips?" said Joel Montesano.
Surveillance video captured the man walking into the Montesano and Perez Law Office, located at 782 NW 42 Ave., last Friday night, at 7:15 p.m.
The man walked from desk to desk stuffing his backpack with computer screens and cords. He also got away with several bags of potato chips. "To our surprise, not only did the person take three computers but also some bags of potato chips," said Alian Perez. "That's kind of, you know, odd for someone to break into an office and take things of such small value."
The robber may have got away with costly computers but no sensitive information.
Surveillance cameras captured the subject's uncovered face during the theft. It wasn't until he was leaving that he decided to cover his face after noticing surveillance cameras. but it was too late. "We are concerned about the incident, and we want to make sure it doesn't happen again, because this is really disturbing," said Perez.
The partners at the firm fear that the incident could happen again while someone is in the building. Thankfully, no one was inside at the time. "I don't know, if somebody is working late, or the cleaning staff walks in, something might have happened," said Montesano, "so even though they took three of our computers, we're happy that it didn't escalate and it just ended up at that."
Police have received several tips after this story aired on Channel 7, and they are investigating.
