Officer injured in car crash

HIALEAH, Fla. (WSVN) -- A Hialeah Police officer had to be hospitalized after colliding with another vehicle.

The crash happened in the area of East 49th Street and East Ninth Court.

According to police, an on-duty undercover officer collided with a sport utility vehicle, Friday night. The sport utility vehicle flipped and rolled over for several feet from where the accident occurred.

The officer was airlifted to the hospital in serious condition.

The two passengers in the SUV were transported to an area hospital. "I'm hearing there was serious injuries. The persons lost consciousness during these injuries, so it is serious enough to have been airlifted. I'm not sure about their conditions, but probably life-threatening injuries," said Hialeah Police Detective Carl Zogby

At this time, it remains unknown who caused the crash. Police are investigating.
