Homestead residents warned of military drill

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (WSVN) -- Residents in Homestead should expect some alarming sounds as the military conducts a drill in the area.

The U.S. Air Force's Homestead Air Reserve Base is launching routine exercises throughout the day Thursday and Friday.

Residents can expect to hear sirens and faint explosions from a distance.

To avoid alarm, the drills will be verbally announced as an "exercise" before being conducted.
