NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are searching for several thieves who vandalized a South Florida church and robbed the congregation of several items.

"This is a prayer request basket," said Reverend Richard Dunn. "I mean how wicked and evil can a person be?"

The robbery happened at Faith Community Baptist Church, located at 10401 NW 8th Ave., Thursday. According to church officials, the thieves cut wires to gain access.

Rev. Dunn gave a tour of the damage. "This is where they hit us the hardest, in our sanctuary. We have TV monitors, and they took this one," said Dunn. "They kicked the drums in, they came in here and stole something from one of the [sound] decks."

Police said the subjects got away with several TVs and computers monitors.

Rev. Dunn is saddened by the crime that took place at his church. "They came in both places, it's a violation, but it's also a violation of God, the house of God," he said.

Rev. Dunn is hoping whoever committed the crime is brought to justice. "They broke into our building, but my message will be to the congregants: We will not allow this to break our spirit," said Dunn.

Rev. Dunn said they have more than 300 people in their congregation. "There is a scripture that I often quote, it says, "'Be not deceived, God is not mocked,'" said Dunn.

The church did not have a surveillance system. If you have any information on this robbery, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
