MIAMI (WSVN) -- Hurricane Sandy forced students across South Florida who were off from school to take their plans indoors.

Students across Miami-Dade and Broward County were off Friday for a scheduled teacher planning day. "I was having fun with my friends," said a little boy.

The Museum of Science and Discovery in Fort Lauderdale was the place to be for some kids. Rain or shine, parents took their kids out. "Rainy day, nothing to do? This is better than the kids playing video games," said a parent.

In Sunset Place in South Miami, it was game time at Splitsville and watching movies, trying to make the most of it as Hurricane Sandy gave brought the rainy weather.

At Cool de Sac, the kids were running around getting their energy out. Some lined up a half hour before the doors opened. "It's raining, and you know, no school, so they come in and run around and get some energy out," said a parent.
