Car crashes into young bicyclist

MIRAMAR, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are investigating an accident involving a sport utility vehicle and a young bicyclist.

The person on the bike, believed to be a middle school student, was transported to the hospital. Miramar police responded to the scene a shopping plaza on the 6800 block of Miramar Parkway, late Monday afternoon.

The SUV ended up on top of the bicycle and over a curb. The vehicle went as far as to strike the exterior of a business in the plaza, leaving minor structural damage.

The child was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the SUV remained on the scene.
