Police searching for iPad scammers

MEDLEY, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police need the public's help in finding a pair of schemers conning people out of their money with an iPad scam.
Medley Police have released surveillance video of a subject trying to scam several people with this con. The video shows a man walking into a local gas station carrying a FedEx package. Inside that package is what appears to be an iPad, but instead, Medley Police said, it is just a picture frame.
Surveillance cameras captured the subject approaching several people. According to Medley Police, he tells people that they can get the phony iPad for just $200.
Police said the two subjects in this case were actually successful with several customers who fell for the scam. "If it's too good to be true, most probably it is ... a lie," said Medley Police Officer Luis Ponce. "Unfortunately, we need to stop purchasing things on the street and start going to the reputable stores to purchase the items, especially with such high value items."
The two men were seen leaving the gas station in a white Dodge Charger.
If you have any information on this iPad scam, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
