Local college students walk on water
MIAMI (WSVN) -- Some South Florida students are learning to walk on water.
Students from Florida International University are making special shoes as part of an assignment for an architecture class.
Students wore the shoes to race across a 175-foot lake on the Modesto A. Maidique Campus. "Some people glided through, but it just took so long with the shoes we had. My legs are killing me," said FIU student Carolina Rivera.
The professor said the assignment offers a great way to teach students how to make something that has to work. "Part of this, for them, to understand the process of designing and making something that has to work, has to perform," said Jaime Canaves.
Canaves said he wants to show students anything is possible, even walking on water.
