PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are searching for a child who robbed $900 from a nail salon employee.

A nail salon from Pembroke Pines wants to remain anonymous to protect the security of their customers. The salon's surveillance video captured a young boy roaming around the break room and going into an employee's personal belongings last Sunday evening.

An employee noted the boy acting suspicious, but the boy lied to her and said he was looking for water. "She was in such a hurry to go to work on her customer that she thought he was looking for a bottle of water. That was the story he came up with," said nail salon manager Tuan Tran.

As soon as the employee left, the boy is seen pulling a purse from a locker. He then walks around the corner and puts a big amount of cash into his pocket. "I was kind of sad because, to see a young kid like that actually do that ... and the way he did it, it seems like he was used to do it," said Tran.

Tran said the boy took off with $900 from one of his employees. He said the boy is not a customer's child. "They come in and ask for donations, saying they are part of a football team or a part of their school," said Tran. "They ask for donations, and I guess that's their cover up to get inside."

The nail salon is convinced the boy has done this before. "I think he's been watching or someone was telling him what to do, or he's just been looking," said Tran.

If you have any information on this robbery or the boy, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
