Miami Book Fair International begins in Downtown

MIAMI (WSVN) -- The 29th Annual Miami Book Fair International kicked off Sunday evening.
The week-long fair takes place in Downtown Miami.
The event celebrates the works of more than 450 authors locally and worldwide, making it an attraction for book lovers young and old, from all over. "I think it puts Miami on the map in terms of literary events," said Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado. "This is the biggest in the nation."
"It's something that makes Miami shine," said Miami Dade College President, Eduardo Padron, "something that we are all very proud of, and something that is for everybody in the community. It's a family affair. "
The book fair features workshops, and talks from authors like the Pulitzer Prize winner for fiction writing, Junot Diaz.
The event runs through Nov. 18 at the Miami-Dade College Wolfson Campus. For a look at all the authors and events taking place during the fair visit: http://www.miamibookfair.com/events.
