Police search for teens who got away empty-handed

DAVIE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A South Florida home was targeted by thieves, but a homeowner and his son got back just in time.
"And then I realized the dead bolt wasn't locked," said homeowner Tony Hale. "They went in right through here, probably with a knife, and that's not hard to pry open for sure."
But the burglars were not planning on Hale coming home, early Thursday. He tried to tackle both of them, but they ran away with Tony and his 8-year-old son in hot pursuit. Surveillance video caught the two would-be burglars sneaking around the home and the subsequent chase.
"What bothers me," said Hale, "is that these are kids. When I knocked him down, in my head I'm thinking, 'This is a kid!' What I'd like to say to this is I'm a parent. We get it. I get it, I'm a parent. You know, I have bills, and it's tight. But sometimes you know, you've got to get involved with your kids and find out what they're doing."
If you recognize the two teens who tried to steal from Tony Hale, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
