MIAMI (WSVN) -- Police are searching for a gunman accused of opening fire on a group of men, killing one person and injuring two others.

The shooting happened at about 11:45 p.m. Monday in the area of Northwest 43rd Street and 11th Place. "When they started looking to see if they could find a victim, they came across a vehicle that had been shot up numerous times," said Miami Police Officer Kenia Reyes.

Family members identified the deceased as Ladarius Evans. He leaves behind two children with one more on the way. One of those injured was identified as his friend, Quavon Hires, family members did not know the name of the third victim.

Gertrude Cairo, the deceased victim's grandmother, said Evans may have had issues growing up, but he was getting his life straighted out. "He had his faults, but in the token he was a loving grandson," Cairo said. "He would grab me and hug me, give me a kiss and say, 'Grandma, I love you.' It's just a hurtful thing."

One man who lives nearby heard the shooting. "I come outside and a guy was flat on his back, and they were standing over the guy screaming, crying," said Cecil Deloach.

Evans was found deceased on the scene outside of the shot-up car. Rescue Crews transported the two other men, the third of whom remains unidentified, to Jackson Memorial Hospital. "One of them remains in extremely critical condition," noted Reyes. "The other has been treated and released."

The girlfriend of the deceased continues to grieve and wants to find answers behind this seemingly senseless shooting. "I just don't know what to do. I don't know how I am going to live without him," said Ashley Cambridge.

Police are searching for the gunmen responsible. "Now we're asking anyone with information as to what took place here to immediately phone police," said Reyes.
