Teen faces judge after bus beating

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A teen appeared in court after brutally beating another teen aboard a South Florida county bus.
The surveillance video of a teen beating on a Broward County Transit bus was released Wednesday.
The video showed several teens attacking a 17-year-old, who was on his way home from school when he was bumped by a group of teens.
The teens exchanged some words before the fight occurred. The teen was taken to the hospital with a broken nose and possible head injuries.
The video helped police arrest two suspects who have been charged with aggravated battery.
One of the suspects was charged with strong-armed robbery after taking the teen's cell phone and iPod.
Samuel Brown faced a judge at the Fort Lauderdale courtroom on Wednesday. He will be staying at the juvenile assessment center until Dec. 4.
Police said the bus driver did everything possible to stop the fight. "It puts the bus driver in a very peculiar situation. She did the best that she could do and was not allowing that disturbance to get back onto the bus," said Fort Lauderdale Police Detective DeAnna Garcia.
Brown is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 28.
The family has hired an attorney.
