Man gives turkeys to needy families

MIAMI (WSVN) -- A thousand families are saying thank you to one generous South Floridian.

Luis Valdeon started handing out turkeys for needy people in Miami's Liberty City section Thursday.

Valdeon gave 150 turkeys to parents at a school and 250 to people who lined up for the free turkeys.

By next week, Valdeon said, he will have given away 1,000 turkeys; double of what he gave away last year. "You know, every year, thanks to God I am doing very well, and now it's time to give back," said Valdeon. "So, every year, around Thanksgiving, we give out roughly 10,000 turkeys, and I do it with my own money."
