MIAMI LAKES, Fla. (WSVN) -- A little boy received the ultimate holiday gift, Friday, which no Christmas present could hold a candle to.

That gift: his father, who just happens to be in the US Navy.

At Matthew Robinson, Jr.'s school, the Miami Lakes K - 8 Center, during morning announcements, the 9-year-old was expecting a normal day in class. He had no idea his father Matthew Robinson Sr. was hiding in a room right next door.

The elder Robinson had been deployed since March. He arrived at the school for a special surprise for his son. "I want to surprise my son Matthew Robinson Jr. He expected me to come tomorrow."

He's been gone for nine months, and he was excited to see his son and his son to see him. "They surprised me, and I'm happy my dad came back," said the elementary school student.

Father and son will be able to hang out until his father has to ship out again on July 2013.
