PINECREST, Fla. (WSVN) -- A South Florida man returned home from spending Thanksgiving with his family only to find a car in his destroyed garage.

"I'm flabbergasted, I'm flabbergasted," said Xavier Vandelanotte.

Vandelanotte returned to his home Friday at about 8 a.m. after police notified him that a car had crashed into his home. Investigators said the accident happened late Thursday night along Southwest 128th Street and 71st Avenue. "This happened 10 years ago; I put a big rock in front of my house, because they took out a few trees and shrubbery but now this," said Vandelanotte.

Police said the driver of a silver Dodge Charger slammed into the garage of the home. Rescue crews had to extricate the driver and a passenger and transport them to Kendall Regional Medical Center, where their condition has not been released.

Vandelanotte said his home suffered extensive damage way beyond the garage. "The bathroom and the laundry room, there's water on the floor in the kitchen area," he said.

Vandelanotte is thankful he spent Thanksgiving with his two children at their mother's house. "Thank goodness they didn't have to be here when this happened," he said.

Vandelanotte said his home is up for sale but this crash has caused some set backs.
