Dems, GOP express support for Israel

NORTH MIAMI-BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- Israeli supporters are taking a South Florida stand to address the crisis in the Middle East.

Hundreds of people from the Greater Jewish Community expressed their hopes for peace at an Israeli solidarity rally at the Jewish Community Center. "We may disagree about a lot of things in America, but it's one thing that we're united Democratic and Republican alike," said Sen. Marco Rubio (R) Florida, "and that is because Israel has stood with us, America stands with Israel, God bless Israel."

Democrats and Republicans are putting differences aside and standing united on this issue. "But Democrats and Republicans independence, Americans stand with Israel, the american leadership stands with Israel," said Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D) Florida.

The 8-day air war against Hamas militants in Gaza came to a cease fire last week. Six Israelis and 100 Palestinians were killed. Dozens others were injured in the crossfire.
