MIAMI (WSVN) -- Family and friends gave their final farewell to a teen that was shot and killed on a school bus.

A mother has been left devastated after having to say her final goodbye to her 13-year-old daughter Lourdes Guzman, Monday morning. "She was like the sunshine in her mother's world," said Lourdes' cousin Manny Torres. "It's absolutely tragic."

Lourdes was on the way to school Tuesday morning when, Miami-Dade Police said, 15-year-old Jordyn Howe took a gun out of his book bag. As he was showing it off, a bullet rang out and accidentally struck Guzman in the neck.

Lourdes' friends walked behind the hearse at Woodland Park South Cemetery where she was laid to rest. "You know, at my age, you expect girls to be smiling and happy, doing girly things but seeing someone die at this age is just very depressing," said friend Noelia Luna.

"She wanted to be a lawyer, and she had dreams, and all that was taken in an instant," said Torres.

Lourdes' family said they will forgive Howe but want justice to be served. "It was an accident, and I understand that, but if he wants forgiveness, I'll forgive him, but justice needs to be done," said Lourdes' stepfather.

Howe has been charged with manslaughter. He is being held at the Juvenile Assessment Center in Miami.
