Armed robbery locks down FAU Boca campus

BOCA RATON, Fla. (WSVN) -- An all campus bulletin went out at Florida Atlantic University, after an armed robber preyed on a student.

The school was locked down for about three hours Thursday afternoon as police searched for the alleged gunman. The alert was lifted at 4 p.m.

According to Boca Raton Police, at approximately 1:10 p.m., an armed robbery occurred in the Arts and Letters Building of Florida Atlantic University's Boca Raton campus. The robber placed a small handgun to a student's head, police said, and then fled on foot after taking some of the victim's possessions.  Officials said he was wearing a ski mask during the stick up.

Police spent hours searching for the culprit and even searched vehicles exiting the campus.

The suspect has not been found.
