Man arrested for beating puppy

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (WSVN) -- A man has been arrested for committing a cruel crime against a young dog.

Tyga, the German Shepherd mix, is only 4 months old, but, on Friday, he was recovering at a Coral Springs animal hospital after a severe beating that left him limping.

Coral Springs Police arrested the owner, Andre Ayala, for animal cruelty after he admitted he beat the dog for chewing on his girlfriend's shoes.

Police said the dog's paws were left so bad, he could not even make it up the stairs. Neighbors also told officers they had seen Ayala punch the dog in his face.

Once he recovers, Tyga will be made available for adoption.
