Pit bull bites police officer

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A police officer said he was forced to fatally shoot a pit bull after it bit him.

The officer shot the animal at Northwest 11th Street and Seventh Avenue after the dog bit his hand, Sunday. The dog was transported to an animal hospital where it later died.

The officer was treated on the scene for his wound.
