Woman fatally stabbed, man in custody

MIRAMAR, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are questioning a man after a South Florida woman was found stabbed to death.

According to Miramar Police, they received numerous reports that a man was stabbing a woman near Lasalle Boulevard and Sable Palm Drive, Monday afternoon.

Shuneeque Jones was found stabbed to death in the street. "Obviously, this was quite a heinous act," said Miramar Police Department spokesperson Tania Rues.

Officers set up a perimeter and shut down the whole neighborhood to search for the suspect. K-9 units and investigators went door-to-door in search for the suspect. Residents were eventually allowed back into their homes once officers found the man. Detectives said he lives in the area.

Madeline Jean-Pierre who lives in the area said, "Very nerve-wracking, and my daughter was telling me she saw the body."

Police are questioning the man to figure out what type of relationship he had with Jones. Police have not released his name and he has not been charged.

Jones' uncle is devastated. "It's a tragedy, and it hurts," said Jerome Jones.

The motive for the fatal stabbing remains unknown.
