FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- It's that time of year, and participants are getting their boats ready to set sail for the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade.

Contestants are zip tying their lights, painting props and touching up last minute details for this years Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade.

This year, the theme is musical memories. People are ready to rock out on the water.

A yacht is ready to show off its surf board sand Hula girl, with a classic SoCal woody. "Hey left do the Beach Boys, the surf rock era," said Winterfest Participant Anita McIlvaine.

All the hard work and planning is to kick off the holiday season with friends and family. "To sum it up with one word, it’s fun. We enjoy doing it. It's great fun to be creative and think of different things to do, to decorate and then actually doing it," said McIlvaine.

Thousands of spectators will come together like every year to see the boats transformed. "It kind of mixes all the flavors of Fort Lauderdale all into one grand event, in one night," said Sixth Star Entertainment Presiden Doug Jones

7News will be adding a little sparkle to this year."We're going to light it with twinkle lights and on the top," said Jones.

American Idol and X-Facto will be displayed, fitting in with the theme to light up the water and join in on the fun with the entire South Florida community.

The grand marshal of this years' parade is none other than Inside Edition's Deborah Norville

The Seminole Hard Rrock Winterfest Boat Parade will set sail next Saturday, Dec. 15th at 6:30 p.m.
