MIAMI (WSVN) -- A young girl battling cancer will get her wish fulfilled thanks to a South Florida designer.

Briana Vega will be doing what other girls only dream about. "I'm excited because I hear I get to walk down the runway," said Vega. "People are going to be taking pictures, I'll be having fun."

The 10-year-old has been through a lot this year after she was diagnosed with leukemia in February. "It's been super, super tough. I've learned that little things I used to complain about aren't bad, because I've gone through like chemo and different treatments," said Vega.

Thanks to a Coral Gables fashion designer Rene Ruiz, Briana will get to be a fashion model for a day. "She really touched me and it was at that moment when I saw her on stage telling her story about surviving leukemia, that I thought what can I do to make this girl's life much more special," said Ruiz

Ruiz will be helping Vega pick out fabric and will make her the dress of her dreams. Ruiz met Vega at the Miami Children's Hospital 'Diamond Ball,' where she was a speaker.

Vega and her family said this experience has been a bright light in a time of darkness "We are so blessed. Everyone has given her such great opportunities," said Vega's mom Joyce Andrews.

Vega's big reveal is set for January, when she will strut down the catwalk for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of South Florida's gala fashion show. "With something bad always comes something good. I thought it was going to be a really bad experience, but I've got a lot of really good things out of it," said Vega.
