Police investigate after teen found dead on school's roof

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are investigating after a teen was discovered dead on a roof at a South Florida elementary school.
Miami-Dade Police along with crime scene investigators were on the scene after a 18-year-old was found dead on the roof top of Emerson Elementary school along 36th Street and 79th Avenue, Friday night.
According to witnesses, just before 6 p.m. an announcement was made over the schools PA system and ordered everyone to evacuate the building. "The question is as long as it didn't happen during school hours that's my main concern," said parent Eddie Cardelles.
The school doesn't believe any children were inside the school at the time.
Police said the teen had been missing for three days. The death appears to be an apparent suicide, but police have not confirmed.
A school board representative said they will make sure everything is in place before Monday.
Police continue to investigate.
