Police search for gunman who shot pregnant woman

MIAMI (WSVN) -- A man and a pregnant woman are in critical condition after police said someone opened fire.
The shooting occurred Sunday, at about 7:45 p.m., outside of a meat market near Northwest 17th Street and Second Court in Overtown.
Police said both victims are in critical condition, but one of the victim's brother's said the baby should be OK. "My sister was walking out of the store," said the victim's brother, "she was behind the person they were aiming for. He was just selling drugs or whatever the case may be, and they were trying to aim for him, but she happened to walk out of the store behind him, and when they started shooting they shot her twice, once in the head and once in the stomach, which missed the baby."
Police are not sure how many people were involved. "It appears that when the shooting took place," said Miami Police Detective Kenia Reyes, "the two victims were standing outside. We don't know if they were in a vehicle, if he or she was in a car. We have very little information."
The man and woman who were shot are at Jackson Memorial Hospital. The baby is expected to be OK. The 26-year-old pregnant woman is about eight months pregnant.
If you have any information on this shooting, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
