Community holds meeting on beach erosion

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Hundreds of residents gathered at the beach community center in Fort Lauderdale on Monday to discuss ways to deal with erosion along a section of A1A.
Beach erosion has caused parts of the sidewalk and street to sink into the ocean over the last few months. Residents and business owners offered different solutions to try and fix the problem.
The Department of Transportation proposed the idea of installing sheets of steel 45 feet under the road and bringing in emergency truckloads of sand to spread along the shore along A1A just north of Sunrise Boulevard.
