MIAMI (WSVN) -- A South Florida food bank needs donations to make sure no one is left hungry this holiday season.

Curley's House of Style and Food Bank, located at 6025 NW 6 Ct., doled out food to hundreds of people Tuesday morning, but now they need to replenish their supply. "This is one of the poorest neighborhoods in the United States," said Laverne Holliday, Assistant Director of Curley's House, "the fifth poorest, and we feed over 500 people a day."

With dozens of needy families coming in every day, the food bank, which normally helps so many, is now needing help from the public. Every second week of the month the charity group runs a food handout for people in need. "Couldn't be happier I'm blessed," said one woman.

This Tuesday, as many as 500 to 600 arrived for the giveaway and also received crucial health care information by health care advocacy groups. "What do they help me out with? Everything! They help me out with my blood pressure, everything," said a man who arrived to Curley's House that morning.

Feeding hundreds is not an easy task for a small group. "It's been a little rough this year for getting donations," said Holliday. "We are trying to solicit donations, monetary. The shelves are empty."
