Teacher investigated after alleged sex with student

WESTON, Fla. (WSVN) -- A South Florida school teacher is being investigated after allegedly having a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old student.

Thirty-six-year-old David Korsun is being investigated after he was accused of having an affair with a student from Cypress Bay High in Weston.

According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, an 18-year-old female student told detectives that she had consensual sex with Korsun. The teen was recently seen intoxicated while in Korsun's presence at the Weston Town Center shopping plaza.

This is the second time in a week the school has been in the spotlight, after a female teacher allegedly gave her students alcohol in her classroom.

Korsun is a wrestling coach and a social studies teacher at Cypress Bay. He has been reassigned while the school district, along with detectives, continue their investigation. "I think it's very disgusting to me just because it's a teacher, and I don't ... I don't agree with it at all," said student Alessi Agurto.

Parent Bina Fink said teachers need to have more supervision at the schools. "Even though it was consensual sex, she's just an 18-year-old and he's a teacher, so they should supervise the teachers more," said Fink.

"He's a great teacher. He taught us well, and we're sad to see him go," said Ross Brown, another student. "If we can have him back, we'd appreciate it, but we understand. I wouldn't want to teach in the same classroom with that girl if she did or didn't lie."

Korsun had celebrated his first wedding anniversary this week. He has been removed from the classroom pending the outcome of the school's investigation.

Student Kenneth Ramero said he still can't believe it. "I'm in shock hearing all this, especially in our school with everything, how teachers act, and I'm just in shock," said Romero.

The school district said they are conducting their own investigation.
