Doral Police chief fired

DORAL, Fla. (WSVN) -- The City of Doral's police chief has been fired from the police force.
Ricardo Gomez was ousted amid allegations he misappropriated more than $26,000 in taxpayer funds.
A Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigation cleared him of any wrongdoing. However, in his letter firing the chief, the city's new interim manager said the state probe weighed on his decision. Doral Interim Manager Merrett Stierheim said, "I could sit down and make a long list of reasons, but they're there, and they're sworn to under oath. It's a pretty serious thing when someone swears under oath."
Gomez chose to be fired rather than resign. He is expected to offer his take on his termination at a news conference on Wednesday.
