Teacher accused of sex abuse back in jail

MIAMI (WSVN) -- More alarming allegations have placed a former South Florida teacher already accused of sex abuse once again behind bars.

Thursday night, a heartbroken mother spoke out about her relief to see the man return to jail, as his trial looms in addition to a lawsuit.

The Miami-Dade Public School Board faces a lawsuit two years after police arrested the physical education teacher for sexually abusing three students. At a news conference Thursday, family attorney Jeff Herman said, "Made her believe-- this little girl in eighth grade-- that he was in love with her."

The former teacher, Carlos Usatorres, returned to jail in November for contacting one of his alleged victims via the social networking site Tumblr. According to court documents, Usatorres took young girls to his office at Miami Springs Middle School, and the principal took no action when he was made aware.

According to one of the victims' mothers he made them engage in sexual acts in that office. "In some kind of way, he was threatening them," she said.

The mother who filed the lawsuit said Usatorres played with her child's mind to get what he wanted. "She said it was different between him and her. He said that he loved her, that he was going to marry her when she was 21, and they're gonna have children."

Three cases are being filed against the school board for violating education amendments and negligence. "We allege here that Miami Springs Middle School protected this predator," said the attorney.

For a mother, knowing he is back behind bars, gives her some sense of relief. "When I hear he was arrested a second time, it was the first time that I could really sleep."

The school board, right now, has no comment on this lawsuit. As for the suspect, he remains behind bars, awaiting trial.
