TAMARAC, Fla. (WSVN) -- An elderly woman returned home to find her house ransacked and robbed right before Christmas.

Seventy-one-year-old Jay Conroy's home was ransacked and robbed by thieves on Thursday afternoon. "Bedrooms are a mess, turned upside down," she said.

Conroy came home from grocery shopping and said, "Saw the two guys running out of my house, and I yelled, 'Hey, what are you doing?!'"

Conroy said the pair never responded to her, but she already knew something was wrong. The crooks got away with the Christmas presents she had bought her 10 grandkids. "You save up doing the summer for Christmas ... for the grandkids," she said.

Some of Conry's jewelry was left behind, but the crooks got away with a pair of diamond earrings.

The thieves broke the sliding glass door from her backyard. The door has since been repaired, but Conroy's home is a mess. "First, I was thinking I must have gotten a package, but when I saw the guy come out of the house. That wasn't a package, it was their packages," she said.

Conroy is now afraid of being in her own home. "Tonight I'm gonna be a little bit worried," said Conroy.

Conroy believes the two thieves were in their early 20s.

If you have any information on this home robbery, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
