PALMETTO BAY, Fla. (WSVN) -- A man and a woman who stole two UPS packages from the front porch of a South Florida home have been arrested.

The owners' surveillance camera footage and viewer tips helped police capture the thieves, even though the parcels were not recovered.

On Dec. 5, Oscar Sosa came home from work expecting to receive two items he and his mother had ordered off the Internet to be waiting for him.

But nothing was waiting by the door. "That night, I checked the shipping [details with UPS] and they said it was delivered," said Sosa. "I thought there was a problem. The next morning, I did the same thing, [and they] still said it was delivered."

It wasn't until the next morning that Sosa checked his Dec. 5 surveillance footage, which showed a man and a woman getting out of their red Toyota Corolla shortly after the UPS driver dropped off the two packages on Sosa's front stoop.

In broad daylight, the thieving couple took the packages right off the Sosas' front porch and sped off.

In addition to the incriminating footage, police said they relied on tips from people who called in and claimed the exact same thing had happened to them.

Police believe the couple may also be responsible for pulling into the driveway of a home in a red Corolla, stealing pricey potted plants from the front porch of the home and placing the plants in the trunk of their care before taking off.

Police were able to track down and arrest the pair Tuesday afternoon.
