Outgoing Broward Sheriff meets with replacement

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Outgoing Broward County Sheriff Al Lamberti met in private Wednesday with Scott Israel, the man chosen by voters to replace him.
This is the first meeting for the two law enforcement officials since November's election. "It has been an honor for me to serve the citizens of Broward County for the last five years," Lamberti said, "but it's their office, not the Al Lamberti Sheriff's Office."
Sheriff-elect Israel expressed his gratitude for Lamberti's years of service. "I want to thank him for his professionalism, not only today but for the last five years that he's been sheriff," he said.
Israel also voiced his excitement about his upcoming tenure as leader of Broward County's finest. "'I'm looking forward to leading this county for the next four years and beyond, if that's God's will, and I'm going to be working very, very hard," he said.
Both men confirmed their teams are working together for a smooth transition. Israel is scheduled to be sworn in Jan. 8.
