Police helicopter makes emergency road landing

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- A Miami-Dade Police helicopter had to make an emergency landing alongside a highway, Tuesday morning.

Just before 11:30 a.m, A bird crashed through the window of the helicopter, leaving a large hole in the right windshield.

The pilot had to land in what used to be the southbound toll plaza at Bird Road.

According to Miami-Dade Police Detective Roy Rutland, the pilot suffered minor lacerations to his face. He was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
