Elderly woman killed in roadway accident

HIALEAH, Fla. (WSVN) -- Hialeah Police said an elderly woman was struck and killed by an out-of-control vehicle, Tuesday morning.
According to police, around 8 a.m., a man driving a pickup truck tried to park his car, but somehow it kept going and crashed right into the woman, killing her. The truck also hit a school bus carrying 16 kids. None of the kids were injured.
One man, who was in the area near West 16th Avenue and 53rd Terrace, witnessed the tragedy on the road. "The lady was passing through the walkway, and the guy was apparently eating something in the car and instead of putting the brake, he hit the accelerator," said Jairo Dussan.
Family and friends of the victim arrived on the scene shortly after the accident. They said their loved one was a Jehovah's Witness, and she was out trying to spread prayer.
Hialeah Police said they do not believe the driver was driving recklessly and will not file charges.
