OAKLAND PARK, Fla. (WSVN) -- One of two South Florida brothers accused of planning a terrorist attack was denied bail on Tuesday.

Prosecutors said 20-year-old Raees Alam Qazi has ties to al-Qaida and was plotting to set off a bomb in New York City.

Officials say Qazi wanted to launch a suicide attack or use a remote-control device to kill people in the "Broadway theater district," Times Square or Wall Street.

FBI agents said they found bomb-making materials when they raided the siblings' Oakland Park apartment last month.

Both have pleaded not guilty.
