Dozens line up for free holiday food baskets

MIAMI (WSVN) -- A South Florida organization is ready to offer a helping hand for the holidays.

Dozens of Miami-Dade residents were already lined up along 14th Avenue and West Flagler in Little Havana to receive a free food basket, Wednesday.

The community event is part of the Latin Chamber of Commerce's Annual Holiday Giveaway. "We just been waiting here for the past four days," said Juanita Alvarez, who has been waiting in line since last Saturday. "We can't wait until tomorrow," Alvarez said.

The crowd recalled a similar scene several weeks ago, when thousands waited in line, some of them for days, to receive their ticket for tomorrow's giveaway.
