Broward County schools react to viral threats
MIAMI (WSVN) -- A word of warning from local authorities Wednesday night.
After the tragedy in Connecticut, police in South Florida said they have received a disturbing uptick in phony threats directed at schools in the area, many of those threats have targeted schools in Broward.
Officials released a statement stating: "Broward District School Police report there have been rumors of violence circulating through social media in Broward County Public Schools. In every case, no substantive information has been found to give credibility to any of these threats. District police are taking all threats very seriously."
Police want to remind everyone that making a threat, even if it's determined to be unfounded, is a serious crime, and those who do so will be arrested and prosecuted.
