SOUTHWEST, Fla. (WSVN) -- Robert Morgan Educational Center held a tearful tribute Wednesday night.

Students, educators and staff at the learning facility stopped to remember the 26 lives lost in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, CT.

"They wanted to do something to honor the victims and survivors in Connecticut," said Robert Morgan Educational Center Principal Kimberly Davis, "so we applaud their efforts, and we think they're doing an amazing job, we're just very, very proud of them."

"I would never think in first grade that someone would come into my school and shoot me and all my friends and teachers and administration," said 11th grade student Robert Moffett.

The student government association organized the memorial.
