Shooting forces lockdown of Coral Gables school

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (WSVN) -- George Washington Carver Middle and Elementary School was placed on lock down while police investigated a shooting a block away that injured a man.
City of Miami Police had locked down the Coral Gables school as a precaution, before school let out Thursday, after a shooting in neighboring Coconut Grove. It delayed dismissal for some students, but the lockdown was lifted at around 4:30 p.m.
School Board police were also on the scene. However, according the Miami-Dade School Board, the school was not involved in the shooting. They ordered the lockdown because of the police activity in the area.
Miami Fire Rescue, responded to the are of 3820 Washington Ave. in Coconut Grove to tend to a male gunshot victim. The severity of his injuries remains unknown.
Police continue to look for the shooter and the investigation remains on-going.
