Pedestrian struck and killed on highway

NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Officials are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed on a major South Florida highway.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at about 7 p.m. a person was in the middle of the road when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle on Interstate 75 south of Miami Gardens, Friday.
FHP closed down all southbound lanes on I-75 south of Miami Gardens Drive while conducting their investigation. "We might be here for another hour. Obviously, we have to make it as quick as possible, but then again it's a big scene," said Florida Highway Patrol Sergeant Alvaro Feola. "It's a long scene and the homicide investigators have to process every piece. "
Traffic was diverted off I-75 onto Miramar Parkway.
Officials don't why the pedestrian was on the highway. One vehicle was involved in the accident, and the driver is cooperating with police.
All lanes have since re-opened.
Police have not released the identity of the vicim.
