Big Mama hands out Christmas toy shipment

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- South Florida's favorite Mama continued playing the role of Santa's helper on Christmas Eve.

Essie "Big Mama" Reed, and her Fort Lauderdale-based Team of Life charity received a shipment of 1,000 toys earlier Monday morning.

Big Mama continued to hand out the presents across Broward County, including outside her own headquarters.

"Keep giving because I feel those hearts and I see the hearts of my children and you're helping Big Mama to help them smile more each time," said Reed, who wore a Santa hat and outfit for the occasion.

The toys were donated by both the Miami Beach Fire Department and Big Dogs Motorcycle Group. Reed confirmed she'll continue to hand them out to needy families throughout the holiday.
