Police: woman dies after ex shoots her in street

MIAMI (WSVN) -- Police are searching for a man who allegedly shot his ex-girlfriend to death while she was walking outdoors, in broad daylight.
At around 2:30 p.m., City of Miami Police set up a perimeter in the area in search of the shooter responsible, who fled the scene.
Police said Effrain Quintana shot his ex-girlfriend several times as she walked in front of a pharmacy near Southwest Fifth Street and Eighth Avenue in Little Havana. A witness who did not give her name said she heard three shots.
Police said Quintana allegedly taunted the woman as she walked on the sidewalk, before shooting her numerous times. Police later interviewed the woman's adult son at the scene. He was not hurt, but he was seen breaking down in tears while talking with police.
Miami Fire Rescue transported the woman to Jackson Memorial Hospital where doctors would later pronounce her dead.
Police have not released a description of the shooter yet, as they continue to search the culprit.
Though police investigators are keeping details scarce, Miami Police spokesperson Kenia Reyes did offer this: "It's very sad, because time and time again we're seeing these domestic issues now spilling out on to the street. We're urging everyone if you are, at this time, involved in a domestic situation don't hesitate to call police."
If you have any information on Quintana's whereabouts, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
