MIAMI (WSVN) -- Residents of a South Florida neighborhood have found themselves targeted by serial burglars.

Many residents of the Coral Gate neighborhood, located just east of Southwest 37th Avenue, between Coral Way and 16th Street, have similar stories. Though many call the neighborhood a safe, great place to raise a family, what was captured on numerous surveillance cameras has them concerned.

Despite a City of Miami Police car parked in the street of the neighborhood, there have been a series of car break-ins and attempts. Despite gates, motion sensor lights and cameras, the crooks remain undeterred. "Most of the time they just come by and literally do this," said Marcos Galigarcia touching his cars door handle, "to see if the doors open."

Harry Piedra had his car burglarized, as well. "They took the GPS, they took a calculator, they took small things," he said.

It is the frequency of these events that has the neighborhood on edge. "We have been broken into the car four times," said Piedra, "and attempts? You can add maybe another seven attempts."

Cameras have also captured what residents are calling a suspicious trio walking in the streets. "It's always a couple, and it seems there's a third person coming in front or behind the couple," said Piedra, "sort of scoping out the area. They do have a stroller, and they seem to use the stroller as a decoy."

Another neighbor said he has also seen these people and noticed that the stroller was empty, which he found peculiar.

It remains unknown if the couple with the stroller is actually connected with the break-ins. However, Miami Police Officer Kenia Reyes said they are looking into all possibilities. "We are already aware what they're trying to do, and we are taking proactive measures to be able to pinpoint who these people are," she said.

Police have a clear image on surveillance of at least one of the suspected burglars. If you have any information on these crimes, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
