Robber shot, killed during robbery attempt

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (WSVN) -- A robber was shot and killed after an exchange of gunfire with the victim.

Officials responded to the shooting at Northwest 200th Street and Second Avenue Friday afternoon. Police said the robber shot a victim in the leg while trying to steal his gold chain.

The victim fired back while falling to the ground, killing the robber. "I had got in front of the Publix when I heard shots. I was going to pick up some medication at Walgreens and when I looked back, oh, he had just robbed somebody and took the chain. When he bust the boy, the boy caught him when he was walking off. And he shot back."

The victim was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where his condition is unknown at this time.
