Cyclist dies after being struck by vehicle

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (WSVN) -- A cyclist was fatally struck on the street in Hollywood.

A car slammed into the bicycle rider near Taft Street and Northwest 66th Avenue.

The 52-year-old man was ejected from the bike and pronounced dead on the scene.

A 14-year-old boy said he was inside his house watching television when he heard the accident. "I just heard a big boom," said Samuel Ordoñez, "and I heard the car squeaking and when I came out here, I called 911 and I saw the guy laying down with a bookbag and he died."

The driver of the car stayed on the scene and cooperated with police during the investigation.
