Police search for burglars who stole lawn equipment

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Crafty crooks snuck into a South Florida business and made off with some pricey equipment.
Thousands of dollars were stolen from Equipment Sales of South Florida and it's not even open for business yet.
Sunday night, a burglar broke in to the business through the roof and then went in through an air conditioning vent. He climbed down into the store using a rope. After he got in, the man then let in two accomplices.
They ransacked the business and stole thousands of dollars worth of lawn equipment. They used a wheel barrel to get the merchandise out. "They took about 40 to 50 pieces off the wall--chainsaws, blowers and that type of equipment," said store owner, Luis Meurice.
On their way out, they triggered an alarm system, which allowed the owner of the business to call the police. "It looks like they came through one of the air vents," said Meurice. "They shimmied down with a rope and came in. He opened up one of the side doors and let two accomplices in. Then they took all of the gear out the back in about three or four minutes."
The burglars are still on the loose. Police are investigating. "It looks like they know what they're doing. Not their first rodeo," said Meurice.
If you have any information on who these burglars may be, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
