Suspicious package deemed safe

MIAMI (WSVN) -- The bomb squad shut down the Government Center in Miami Wednesday morning after a suspicious package was found.

Officials took an X-ray of the package found at Northwest First Street and First Avenue. The investigation forced police officers to re-route the Metrorail for almost an hour.

Officials determined the package was not dangerous, and the bomb squad destroyed it on the scene.

Metrorail and Metromovers are now back up and running.
