WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- A 400-ton Christmas tree made of sand is finding a second life fighting beach erosion.
The 35-foot-tall sand tree has been dismantled in West Palm Beach, but all of it is being reused.
The city is hauling some of it to two small beaches that suffered erosion from Superstorm Sandy. The Palm Beach Post reports another 200 tons of sand are being brought to the South Florida Fairgrounds for an annual sand sculpture competition.
